Newsletter 3/17/14

A note from Mrs. Horn…

It was wonderful to have a chance to talk with you about your children’s progress.  The best part of Kindergarten is watching how quickly your children learn, and how excited they are to learn.  Again, thank you for sharing your children with me.

On Wednesday, March 26th, we will have our All About Me Writer’s Celebration.  We are very excited to share with you our fabulous non-fiction books that we have been working so hard on for the past few weeks.  Please join us in the library at 11:15 to enjoy your child’s and others books.  After our celebration, you are welcome to stay and eat lunch with your children in the cafeteria.

We are running SUPER LOW on hand sanitizer and paper towels.  If you can please send in a roll or a bottle, that would be fabulous!

 Dates to Remember

·         March 17th: Irish Dancers Visit

·         March 26th: Writer’s Celebration

·         March 31- April 4th: Spring Break

What are we learning?

Reading Workshop

This week, we will begin exploring books that represent the continents.  Our first continent is Asia.  We will discuss setting, using fiction and non-fiction books.

 Writing Workshop

We will finish editing our All About Me books, as well as write our own small moment stories.

Word Study

This week we will learn about the consonant blends:  br, cr, dr, fr, and tr.  Our word wall words for this week are: here, before, make.  Have your child sing you the songs for these words.
